Day 13: Fri 22 Dec - Canberra
10 (feels like 7) - 24 (feels like 20) deg C, fine sunny with a persistent wind
Ride: 43km; total: 117km
A slow start to the day. Because the sun was out, Wendy decided to do some washing. We also invited Rob and Tinkie over for mornos. We were having a lovely catch up when the mower man decided he should come and mow right next to us! After battling to hear each other, we called time on mornos and R&T headed home.
As the weather had improved significantly, we donned the lycra and went for a ride, through Deakin and the Southern suburbs, passed Albo's house (The Lodge) and Parliament House. We had lunch at Phillip then headed home via the Western reaches of the Lake. Riding around Canberra is a very pleasant experience as there is a huge network of cycle paths. Over 1,000km of bike paths and 370 cycle routes. The riding is extremely relaxing when you don't have that constant worry of some goose in a car, bus or truck passing too close. It is even better still when you are on an e-bike! You can ride for longer/further regardless of hills or headwind, and see more. Not that we went too far today though, as we left a little later than planned.
Back at the van we had another brew, then a rest. Greg was just pottering around outside when when we received another visitor - Bob! The boys had a brew and we all sat for a while catching up. After Bob left, Wendy continued with dinner preparations whilst Greg did some stretches and weights. Post dinner we gave the bikes some much needed lube.
We are not taking a lot of photos this trip as we have been here many times before and lived here for several years. Another pleasant day in the National Capital.
