Day 16: Mon 25 Dec - Canberra
15-22, windy, rainy and stormy
Greg managed to squeeze in a ride this morning and made it home just before the heavens opened. We then had mornos before getting ready to go to Kev and Samantha's for Christmas lunch.
Christmas lunch was a three-course affair with a bit of digestion time between courses. Entrées were Dolmas (rice and stuff wrapped in grape leaves) prawns, oysters, smoked salmon, cheese, prosciutto, etc. A little while later we had roast pork roll, roast turkey roll, salad, and potato bake. Many games of pool followed to assist in preparing us for dessert. A long while after mains, the dessert was served; ice-cream topped with brandy infused mixed fruit and a honey comb crunch. The wine (K&S also love good wine) and beer flowed freely all day. K&S had gone to a great deal of trouble and expense to ensure that everything we had was just perfect, which just made for an amazing experience. It was made even better because Rob and Tinkie were able to attend, having missed the Xmas Ev dinner due to illness.
We were back at the van about 7pm, after an awesome day with family. Paddy, Sarah and Jo hitched a ride home with us as they were ready to call it stumps too.
