Day 17: Tue 26 Dec - Canberra
14-25 deg C, windy, rainy, stormy, with a little bit of sun
Ride: 50km; total: 249 km
After a little sleep in, we were kitted up and hit the road on the bikes for a post-Christmas ride. First stop was at the suburb of Gungahlin, where we lived when posted to Canberra 2004-07. We found a suitable venue and had breakfast, then mornos. For mornos, Wendy bought two vanilla slices thinking they were the normal size however, when we got them they were super-sized ones. So, we shared one and rode onto mum and dad's with the other one. They were delighted as the slices were a 9.5 out of 10.
We spent a good hour or so with them and returned to the van just in time as it started raining immediately we pulled up. A later than usual lunch followed, then a rest. The remainder of the afternoon was spent catching up on life after the hectic pace of the last two days.
We are a bit over the rain and the wind now; both have been on and off (mostly on) since we arrived.
More rain, just because we haven't had enough
A huge storm cell that went East of us, thank goodness
The rain today caused the drain at the back of the van park to start running!
The early evening sky tonight
Boxing kangaroos on our patio at home, caught on CCTV
Great storm pics.
