Day 6: Fri 15 Dec - Armidale to Coonabarabran, 296km; total towed: 1,696km

17 (Armidale) - 34 (Coonabarabran), tropical
Walk: 3km; total: 24km

After a little sleep in, we were packed up and on the road at 8:20am. Our initial plan was to stop at Gunnedah for the night however, it was too early to stop, so we visited a couple of touristy spots and moved on. We were a little concerned about driving on the minor roads with the shockies removed, but unlike Qld, even the backroads are pretty smooth, so no problem. We arrived at John Oxley Caravan Park at Coonabarabran at 1:30pm, chose our site (max shade) and set up camp. After lunch we had a little rest as it was a tad warm in the sun. The breeze provided pleasant relief as did the shade.

We needed a few grocery items, so off we wandered into town. We had a walk up and down the main street and although we saw that there wasn't anything new since our last stopover in 2018, we saw a lot of shops had closed up since then. Obviously victims of the COVID slump. After shopping at Woolies we wandered back to the van.

Dinner was had not long after returning home. Watched a bit of cricket, then hit the sack.
